Bear Bear Brooke

Too cute not to share. Brooke decided to dress up like a little bear. This costume I believe was made for Libby (and she loved it), but now Brooke is the one that loves to pretend she is a bear. Check out the little tail.

Run in with Perry

Long story short: I was wearing sandals, Perry was wearing tennis shoes - our feet came together and my big toe nail lost the battle. Not to gross you out, but it was hanging on. If you want pictures, Sage took some and I will gladly forward them on. Doctor said that I needed to come and have it taken off. Summer is here and my toenail will take 6 months to grow back. I guess I need to protect my feet better; Sage did the same thing to my same toe nail 3 years ago.

Farmer's Market

I apologize for not providing any photos. Please take the time to visualize the great moments that I experienced with the 3 girls today. We drove to the Farmer's Market being held in Long Beach. The girls did not believe that this could be such a fun idea; shopping for fruits? First, I let them each put a quarter in the meter for the parking (smiles all around). Next, we walked along the street to see what each farmer had brought to the market. They were all smiles as they were offered pieces of fruit, nuts, popcorn, etc. Libby had juices from all the fruits from her chin to her nose (pure heaven for her). Sage had so much juice on her mouth she decided to just wipe it on her sleeve. Brooke kept popping cherries in her mouth and kept giving the evil eye to people offering her food. I had to hand it to her before she would take it. The farmers were all generous and kind. We came home with strawberries, raspberries, peaches, plums, pluots, apricots, rainier and bing cherries, pistachios, and kettle corn. The girls voted on the pluots being the best. The farmer with the nuts, gave Libby a huge handful of trail mix that she shared with all of us. Last bit of joy; when Libby kept feeling her dance moves inside and wanted to give one of her own dollars to a man playing a guitar. She understood that he was working for money and she wanted to pay him. She said, "I really like his music". For a mom that doesn't enjoy taking her children shopping, this was a fun experience that made me reconsider (for a moment). Side note: We didn't buy veggies because those are growing in Grandma & Ed's backyard. We have been eating squash and tried turnip for the first time today.

Zeus goes to School

Brushing his teeth
Frisbee catch
Meeting the class

Sage wanted to bring Zeus to school for share day. He performed for her pretty well for being 10 years old. He almost caught most of the Frisbees she threw for him. Zeus even let Sage brush his teeth. The children all enjoyed petting him and asking questions about him. Brooke liked walking him to and from school.

Park Days

Libby's class
Sage's class

Do all schools have park days at the end of the year? I've never known any before moving to Long Beach. It seems to be a tradition in the school district. Libby and Sage walked to a near by park that was filled with 1st and 3rd graders. They played on the equipment, ate lunch, had loads of fun and walked back. Perry's was more grand because 5th graders are graduating from Elementary school. He had a lot of fun on this inflatable obstacle course (so did Brooke). Now Brooke gets the best deal. Since I help out at these events; she comes, she eats and she parties with even the biggest of kids.

Awards

On Monday, Sage and Libby received awards, their last as 1st graders. On Tuesday, Perry received some as well, his last at Tincher. Next year, he will be at Hill Classical Middle School. We are so proud of all 3 of them for working so hard at school. Most of the awards are not for being the best, they are for trying. That is except for one of them Perry received: Presidential award for Excellence. He scored high on state tests as well as receiving high grades. It is from the White House and he gets a letter from the President.

How cool is that?

Perry our "American" star

Perry played Samuel Adams in an American Revolution musical play. He spoke with great clarity and animation. His class performed 3 times during the day and once for the parents at night. His sisters love to watch in awe of his performing abilities. They like for him to teach them the songs from the plays he is in. Yes, we have singers at this house :)
