Farmer's Market
I apologize for not providing any photos. Please take the time to visualize the great moments that I experienced with the 3 girls today. We drove to the Farmer's Market being held in Long Beach. The girls did not believe that this could be such a fun idea; shopping for fruits? First, I let them each put a quarter in the meter for the parking (smiles all around). Next, we walked along the street to see what each farmer had brought to the market. They were all smiles as they were offered pieces of fruit, nuts, popcorn, etc. Libby had juices from all the fruits from her chin to her nose (pure heaven for her). Sage had so much juice on her mouth she decided to just wipe it on her sleeve. Brooke kept popping cherries in her mouth and kept giving the evil eye to people offering her food. I had to hand it to her before she would take it. The farmers were all generous and kind. We came home with strawberries, raspberries, peaches, plums, pluots, apricots, rainier and bing cherries, pistachios, and kettle corn. The girls voted on the pluots being the best. The farmer with the nuts, gave Libby a huge handful of trail mix that she shared with all of us. Last bit of joy; when Libby kept feeling her dance moves inside and wanted to give one of her own dollars to a man playing a guitar. She understood that he was working for money and she wanted to pay him. She said, "I really like his music". For a mom that doesn't enjoy taking her children shopping, this was a fun experience that made me reconsider (for a moment). Side note: We didn't buy veggies because those are growing in Grandma & Ed's backyard. We have been eating squash and tried turnip for the first time today.
