Perry now wears the same size shoes as I do! He can wear only white shirts (wonder how long I can keep them white). He can walk and roll or he can wear the backpack on his shoulders or he can even transport it on his bike (thanks to Grandma Loveridge).
Sage has Mrs. Lockerman and loves her. I asked why and this is what she said. When someone asks her how to spell a word, she tells them. Her first grade teacher made them sound everything out. Sage loves to spell things correctly!
Libby has Mrs. Whitmer and loves all the animals in her classroom. She told me her bird was too tired to come to school today, but maybe tomorrow. Libby loves her new hair cut that keeps the hair out of her face (most of the time). Shoes and socks are not bothering her, allowing her to be ready very quickly this morning.
The new backpacks!
Breakfast is served...Brooke is not a morning person (in case you didn't know)Wow! Summer is over and school is in session for most. Brooke starts preschool on Tuesday. Perry walked with a friend to their new middle school. He is on a block schedule, so he will meet the other half of his teachers tomorrow. Perry already memorized his locker combo, but accidentally looked for it in a different building. Oops, middle school is BIG! Everyone has new shoes and backpacks, since they are all growing so fast.
One would think it would be quiet at home, since the kids were at school. Not quite yet. Brooke and I walked the 2 girls to school and sat with them while they ate breakfast (we still qualify for free food at school for the time being). Then they (maybe me) forgot snack for recess, so Brooke and I stopped at the school on our way home from some errands. Sage had requested that I come eat lunch, so Brooke and I went back again. Which worked out well, Sage and Libby were able to cut in line (in front of 5 other classes) to eat with Brooke and myself. Finally, Brooke and I went back to pick them up for school. Now, I know you are thinking, this is too much! When I used to work a J-O-B, these are the things I missed out on and wished that I could do what my children asked of me. There will never be a first day of 2nd grade ever again, so you can bet I was there with a smile on my face. The smile left when Libby did not show up after school. Now that is another story and she will try better next time :)

I love the first day of school . . . new shoes, new backpacks, clean uniforms & seeing friends that you haven't seen all summer. I hope all goes well for Perry - it's a BIG transition.
Glad to hear everyone made it through their first day of school! Philip said that you won't know what to do with yourself for half the day when everyone is in school! I'm sure you'll be able to keep busy, though. ;-D
