Walking with a purpose

Today I went for a walk...with several hundred other people. http://www.bethecause.org/ Jenny, Gavin and Zeus joined me for a relaxing experience. The walk was held inside El Dorado park. Volunteers posted uplifting quotes all along the 3 mile path. I am always in awe of Gavin's angelic behavior. He seemed to enjoy himself, the dog's big tongue and the playground at the end of the walk. Zeus enjoyed himself as well, afterwards sleeping the day away with a rude interruption of a bath. Brooke's cleaning again

When Brooke offers to help, she gets into it 110%. Today we had a casserole dish soaking in the sink that was completely caked on from baking in the oven (chicken pot pie). I showed her how to scrub it and thought to myself, "This will keep her busy for awhile". Next thing I know she is calling me into the kitchen wanting me to look at how much she had cleaned. The photos are the sight that I found. Yes, that is Brooke up on the counter really putting that elbow grease into her cleaning. Even her pigtails were in the soapy water. You better believe the casserole dish was spotless when she was done with it.

We took a trip over to the Ensign book store. These 4 year olds can sure talk about Jesus in a very grown up way. Then we saw a motorcycle store that Jed couldn't resist. The intention was to go to the Cerritos library fountains to cool off from the 100 degree weather, but the kids had fun running around outside and riding the escalator inside the library.

Washing cars with Lee

Brooke loves to be a helper. Yesterday, she wanted to help Lee wash cars. I could hear part of the conversation that was going on. Kids do say the most amazing things. She was telling him that the back of a book is called a "spine". She said that Mrs. Tami taught her that at Rainbow School. Then she proceeded to tell him, "Mom is going to freak out" When he asked, "why?" She said because the car would be so beautiful and shiny. Brooke is very insightful.

Grown ups have to come up with excuses to dress up. Lee and I went to a party last night that took us back a few years. I borrowed an outfit from a friend (and left my conservative world). This was a cross between Pat Benatar and Madonna. Can you believe that I was given an award "Most likely to have a Prom baby" How dare they? I am really appalled at the judges, just because I dress like this doesn't mean anything? Like, I'm so sure. j/k

A couple in our ward is part of a band that performed a rock concert for us during the "prom". They were really great, but I should have brought ear plugs, just to tone it down a little. Play dates with Jed

Brooke and Jed love playing together. I believe they spent 5 days in a row together (sometimes only an hour each day, but still) last week. Here is a picture from a play land that has a mini basketball hoop meant for basketball, I think. Brooke thought the hoop was for sitting in or was that Jed's idea? They like to climb and play house. Jed used to have me put Zeus away when he came over to our house, now, since the surgery, Jed will pet him and tell me that he is a good dog (especially if Zeus is resting). You can tell that Jed is very sympathetic to "Franken-dog" and all his boo-boos. Brooke and Jed were last found playing in the dog's bed while he was sleeping!

Rain in California!

Thought the weather was noteworthy...I was looking around thinking, "What is that sound?" Then I realized it was a sound that I don't hear that often: RAIN! It down poured for a few minutes and then stopped and dried up in a few hours. How exciting! Side note: That is the only downside to having your laundry room be outside in your detached garage; getting your dry laundry back inside the house without getting wet.
